Let's talk about choosing the right light bulb for you. There are three basic types of light bulbs Incandescent ,florescent and LED(Light emitting diode). First let’s talk about Incandescent light bulbs.  Amazingly the incandescent light bulb has been around since 1802 Thomas Edison was credited with this invention.  This is just the regular light bulb that has a filament inside. The benefit of these light bulbs is that they produce a nice warm color light and are fully dimmable. Next compact fluorescent these are the squiggly looking ones. They are filled with a gas that is ignited when you turn them on. The benefit to these light bulbs is that they use less electricity. Many or my customer’s do not like the light they produce and most of these florescent bulbs are not dimmable. Now we have LED light bulbs it is light from a simple diode. The benefit to these is that they also use less electricity. These bulbs are fully dimmable and produce a nicer light than the fluorescent. The downside to the LED bulbs is that they are very expensive but the manufacturers are claiming they will last for up to 40 years. So those are the basics remember when changing your light bulbs be sure your dimmers are compatible with the bulb that you are using.
