Landscape lighting is a great way to improve the look of your home at night and add safety. With landscape flood lights you can highlight features of your home or landscape. With pathway lights you can light stairs or pathways around your home making them safe for people to traverse. So where do we start? First come up with a plan of all the lighting you want to do. Next figure out how many watts all of the lights you want to add will use. Knowing how many watts you will use will help us to pick out a transformer for your landscape lighting. The transformer is a unit that you plug in to power your landscape lighting. Most transformers also include timers and sensors to help you turn the lights on and off at specific times. I would usually recommend getting a transformer a little bit bigger than the amount of Watts you need this will leave you room if you ever want to add additional lights. Remembers landscape lighting fixtures come in different wattages so you can get a pathway light that is either 20 watts or 50 watts and the same for flood lights. The one thing that has changed recently is now they offer LED landscape lights. I highly recommend using these lights because there are no bulbs to change and they use a lot less electricity. There are many different styles and colors of landscape lighting so go out and find what you like and get the best deal you can.
